IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM.

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants need to submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Submission of scores from national entrance exams like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE may be required. International standardized test scores from GRE and GMAT are also considered.

Proof of English language proficiency through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English is mandatory. Specific score requirements are available on the official website.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
