IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills, according to the institute’s notification.

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include national-level Indian exams like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program. International applicants may also submit scores from exams such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department. Applicants must also submit scores from recognized English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
