IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals can apply for admission for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Individuals who are not Indian citizens are eligible. This includes those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency.

Application Requirements

Applicants need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills. The application portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.

Academic and Language Proficiency

Admission may require scores from national or international tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Applicants also need to list two referees for recommendation letters.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview committee will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. Referees will provide feedback on the candidate’s overall aptitude, research potential, and English communication skills.
