IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year. Prospective students can apply through IIT Delhi’s international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Academic and English Proficiency Scores

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT are also considered.

Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
