Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
Prospective students must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
These referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission Requirements
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scheme.
International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
