IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Requirements

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration statement.

Application Process

Candidates must provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude and research potential. They will also comment on English proficiency. Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.

Scores from international tests like GRE and GMAT may also be required. The final admission decision will be based on an interview. A selection committee will interview candidates with strong academic records. The committee comprises faculty members from the relevant disciplines.

English Proficiency Tests

Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also considered.
