Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are open to foreign national students for the academic year 2026-27.
The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Eligibility Criteria
Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes students holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration.
Applicants need to provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude and research potential. They will also assess English proficiency.
Admission Requirements
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International students may also submit GRE or GMAT scores.
English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, or Cambridge English Examination are required. Candidates must submit scores for these tests.
Selection Process
Admission to PhD and PG programs is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. The interview panel comprises faculty members from the relevant discipline.
The interview committee assesses candidates’ overall aptitude, field proficiency, and research potential. A strong command of oral and written English is also evaluated.
