IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Postgraduate (PG) programs . The application window closes on March 30, 2026 . Interested foreign nationals can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application period is open until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 . Non-Indian citizens are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national and international standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program. International tests like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Candidates must also submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission to PhD and PG programs is primarily based on performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel composed of faculty from the relevant departments.
