IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Prospective students must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be evaluated on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is based on the institute’s official notification.

Admission Requirements

Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.

International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to participate.

The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. This committee will assess candidates’ suitability for the program.
