The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
To be considered for PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Additionally, proof of English language proficiency is required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
