IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Interested students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Application Requirements

Referees will evaluate candidates on overall aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) tests, University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores are also considered. Acceptable tests include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.

Candidates must also provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination, or equivalent language tests.
