IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to name two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Admission requirements may include scores from standardized tests. These can be national tests like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program. International test scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

English language proficiency must be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will receive an invitation to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
