IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students . The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online via the institute’s international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Admission requirements may include scores from national-level Indian entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) scheme.

International standardized test scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
