IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application portal will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 . Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.
Academic and Entrance Exam Scores
Admission to PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International students can also submit scores from examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English proficiency test scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are also necessary.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Those with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. The panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
