IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with OCI or PIO cards, can submit their applications online. The admission portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE). International examination scores, such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), may also be considered.
English language proficiency tests are mandatory. Applicants must submit scores from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to speak with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate their potential for research and independent thinking.
