IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students for the 2026-27 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Candidates may need to submit scores from national and international standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency must be demonstrated. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.
Selection Process
Final admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. The committee evaluates candidates for their overall suitability for postgraduate studies and research at IIT Delhi.
