IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
Admission Details
The application portal will remain open until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. Referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE fellowship.
International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Furthermore, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on the candidate’s performance during an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.

Admissions are for the academic year 2026-27 .
