IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. Prospective students can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English proficiency. They will need to provide a self-declaration of their language skills.

Application Requirements

Applicants must nominate two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters. The notification states referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like GRE and GMAT may also be required.

Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be accepted.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
