About This Scholarship

The NSP Centrally Sponsored Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students, Manipur 2025-26 is a significant opportunity provided by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. This initiative is designed to support Scheduled Caste (SC) students from financially disadvantaged families in Manipur, enabling them to pursue higher education.

The scholarship is implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) and aims to alleviate the financial burden on students and their families. It encourages academic progression beyond matriculation for eligible candidates.

Recipients of this scholarship will benefit from various components, ensuring comprehensive financial support for their studies. These benefits include the coverage of compulsory non-refundable fees, such as tuition fees, as determined by the State Government's fee fixation committee.

Additionally, an academic allowance is provided, varying based on the category of courses pursued and whether the student is a hosteller or a day scholar. For instance:
• Students pursuing Degree and postgraduate-level professional courses (Group 1) can receive ₹13,500 annually as hostellers or ₹7,000 annually as day scholars.
• Those in Other Professional courses leading to a degree, diploma, or certification (Group 2) are eligible for ₹9,500 (hostellers) and ₹6,500 (day scholars).
• Students in Graduate and postgraduate courses not covered in Groups 1 & 2 (Group 3) receive ₹6,000 (hostellers) and ₹3,000 (day scholars).
• For All post-matriculation non-degree courses (Group 4), the allowance is ₹4,000 (hostellers) and ₹2,500 (day scholars).

Important Notes on Benefits:
Divyang students will receive an additional ten percent allowance.
• Students pursuing C.A., I.C.W.A., C.S., or I.C.F.A. will be treated as day scholars for the academic allowance.
• Those studying through correspondence or online courses will not be eligible for the academic allowance.
• The scheme also facilitates enrollment: eligible students receive a freeship card, allowing them to join institutions without upfront payment of tuition or dorm fees. The institution will be notified upon transfer of funds to the student's account and can then collect fees directly from the student.

The deadline for application is November 30, 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, an applicant must fulfill the following criteria:

• Be an Indian national.
• Be a domicile of Manipur.
• Belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.
• Have successfully completed high school (Class 10) or higher secondary education with a passing grade from a recognized University or Board of Education.
• Possess an annual family income of less than ₹2,50,000 during the previous financial year.

Important Considerations:

• Students who have already completed a particular stage of education in one subject are not eligible to apply for the same stage in a different subject under this scheme. For example, an individual with an Intermediate Science degree cannot apply for an Intermediate Arts degree. Similarly, a B.Com graduate or an M.A postgraduate in one subject cannot apply for another B.Com or M.A degree.

• Students pursuing studies through accredited correspondence or online courses are eligible. However, this applies exclusively to courses offered by Central or State Universities through distant or continuous education programs. These students will be responsible for any non-refundable fees associated with their chosen program and will not receive an academic allowance.

• A scholarship holder under this scheme cannot concurrently receive any other scholarship or stipend.

• Should a student be awarded another scholarship or stipend, they have the option to choose the more beneficial one. In such a case, the student must inform the awarding authority through the Head of their Institution.

• The scholarship will be terminated from the date the student accepts another scholarship or stipend.

• Notwithstanding these rules, students are permitted to accept free lodging, grants, or ad-hoc monetary assistance from the State Government or other sources. This additional support can cover expenses such as books, equipment, or living costs, and is permissible in addition to the scholarship amount.
