Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students pursuing PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM IST . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide contact information for two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
Candidates may be required to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Indian Standard Tests: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE).
- International Standard Tests: Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
- English Proficiency Tests: TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination, or other recognized language tests.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The institute will assess the candidate’s potential for research and independent thinking during this phase.
