Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals can apply for PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are being processed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This requires a self-declaration and names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referee Recommendations
Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude. They will comment on the applicant’s chosen field proficiency. Research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills will be evaluated.
Required Test Scores
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. For PhD and PG programs, these can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program is also a valid submission.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English Proficiency Tests
A strong command of English is required. Applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview committee will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
