The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for international students to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement declaring English language proficiency. They also need to list two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Indian Entrance Exams: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
- International Exams: Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
- English Proficiency Tests: TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination, or similar.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will conduct interviews for shortlisted candidates. Admission is based on performance in these interviews. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will interview applicants with strong academic records.
