IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Eligible foreign nationals can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in. The portal will close at 4 p.m. on the application deadline.
Applicants must be non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Admission Process Details
Candidates must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International students may also need to submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
IIT Delhi will base final admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. The interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic disciplines.
