The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency.
The application process requires recommendations from two referees. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities.
Academic Qualifications and Entrance Exams
To be considered for PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Selection Process
Final admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
Proficiency in English must also be demonstrated through standardized tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations, or equivalent language proficiency tests.
