The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are accepted through the official portal at international.iitd.ac.in until March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency.
Two referees are required to provide recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language command.
Academic and Language Proficiency Criteria
For PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores may also be considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency is mandatory. Applicants must provide scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG courses will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with a strong academic record will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
