IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Admissions Overview

IIT Delhi offers PhD and PG courses for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026. This opportunity is open to non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Academic and Language Proficiency

To be considered for PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

English language proficiency must be demonstrated through scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
