IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply for the 2026-27 academic year.

Admissions Open for International Students

The application portal for international students is now live. The deadline to submit applications is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to evaluate candidates on aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Academic and Standardized Test Scores

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores are also accepted. These include:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Applicants may submit scores from any recognized English language proficiency test.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview.

The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
