IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency.
Application Requirements
The application requires the names of two referees. These referees will provide recommendation letters. They will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Academic Qualifications and Tests
Admission may require scores from specific standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English proficiency tests are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
