IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for Foreign Nationals | Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply for the 2026-27 academic year . The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Applications are being accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Non-Indian citizens are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. Interviews are conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
