IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking, and English language abilities.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates may need to submit scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International test scores like GRE and GMAT are also accepted.

Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
