Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27 . Interested students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration confirming their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations. The official notification states referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Standardized test scores may be required. This includes Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International examination scores like GRE and GMAT are also accepted.
English language proficiency must be demonstrated. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examinations. Other language tests may also be considered.
Selection Process
Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
