IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online via the institute’s international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application window will close at 4 pm on March 30, 2026. Non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
