The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Eligible foreign nationals can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Details for International Students
The admission window is open for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Both Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders are eligible to apply alongside other non-Indian nationals.
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Admission requirements may include scores from national-level entrance exams like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program. For international applicants, scores from exams such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Candidates must also submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Final admission will be based on a candidate’s performance in an interview. Those with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel comprising faculty members from the relevant department. The interview committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
