The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Admission Details for International Students
The application window is open for the academic years 2026-27. This opportunity is available to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications will be accepted until 4 pm on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be asked to provide recommendation letters. The notification states referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Standardized test scores may be required. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International students may also submit scores from exams like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Any other recognized language test may also be considered.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for this interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
