IIT Delhi is accepting applications from foreign nationals for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admissions Overview
International students, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Indian Exams: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, DST INSPIRE
- International Exams: GRE, GMAT
Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
