The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility and Application Process
Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. IST.
Required Scores and Selection
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. Accepted tests include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Basis
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
