IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Admissions are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Proficiency in English must also be demonstrated through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
