IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Interested foreign nationals can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must be non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must also provide a self-declaration of their English proficiency. They need to list two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi requires specific test scores for admission to its PhD and PG courses. Applicants may need to submit scores from Indian standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program.

International standardized test scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Furthermore, applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The committee will assess candidates for their suitability for the program.
