Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests such as:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)

- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)

Selection Process
IIT Delhi will conduct admissions based on candidate performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel composed of faculty members from the relevant disciplines.
