IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window is open for international students only. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for these programs. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. The referees will comment on the candidate’s overall aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

Admission to PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International students may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on candidate performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview assesses suitability for advanced study and research.
