Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM IST. Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
The admissions are open to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.
Admission Process and Requirements
Referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are mandatory. IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance.
Interview Stage
Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
