IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-2027 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are managed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

While not always mandatory, applicants may submit scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the Department of Science and Technology’s Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program.

Scores from international standardized tests are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must also demonstrate English language proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty members from their chosen discipline. The interview committee will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
