IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is part of the official notification.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also accepted. Candidates may submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.

English language proficiency tests are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. The institute will invite students with strong academic records for an interview.

The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. This process is designed to assess suitability for advanced study and research.
