IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Candidates must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Required Examinations

Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests.

  • For PhD and PG programs: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
  • International examinations like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
  • English proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in.
