IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students | Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the 2026-27 academic year.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency.

Admission Requirements

Candidates need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This assessment will be part of the application review process.

IIT Delhi also requires scores from standardized tests. These may include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. For international students, scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

English language proficiency must be demonstrated through scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. A self-declaration of English proficiency is also a requirement.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. The committee evaluates candidates for their suitability for advanced study and research.
