IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.

Foreign nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters.

Application Requirements

Referees will evaluate candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. These evaluations are part of the official notification.

Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. Accepted scores include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will conduct interviews for admission. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. An interview committee composed of faculty members from the relevant discipline will assess applicants.

Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through standardized tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
