IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply until March 30, 2026 .

The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in. This is for admissions for the academic year 2026-27.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must also demonstrate English proficiency. They need to submit a statement or self-declaration of their English language skills.

Two referees are required. These individuals must provide recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Admission Process

Candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required.

IIT Delhi will assess candidates based on interview performance. Those with strong academic records receive interview invitations. These interviews are conducted by faculty committees in the relevant disciplines.

English language proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also considered.
