The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply until March 30, 2026 .
Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. The deadline to submit applications is 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two individuals who can write recommendation letters.
These referees will be contacted to comment on the applicant’s aptitude and research potential. Their feedback will cover the candidate’s proficiency in their chosen field and English language skills.
Admission Process
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) score is also considered.
International test scores can also be submitted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
