Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline for international students is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the 2026-27 academic year.
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations. Recommendations will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
IIT Delhi requires scores from national or international standardized tests. These may include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
In addition to these, candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include:
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- TOEIC
- OPI
- OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination
- Other recognized language tests
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a faculty committee within the relevant academic discipline.
