IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must apply through the official website:international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examinations.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
